Melting Pot with Greg Wilson & Big Break Records at The Admiral

Before the birth of the super clubs and superstar deejays, Greg Wilson was on the ones and twos at the legendary Wigan pier making his mark as a jazz funk specialist.

Fast forward thirty years and the man is a legend having started the first dance night at Manchester’s historic and ill fated Hacienda club that spanned the birth of ecstasy club culture in the UK in the 80s.

In 2009 Greg delivered a sublime, essential mix for Radio 1 giving a musical masterclass which took you on an odyssey of Acid house, Electro funk ,Soul, disco and Balearic sounds.

His amazing re-edits knock spots off many of the seasoned, in-crowd djs .

A personal favourite of his immense back catalogue of mixes is his bodytonic podcast oozing with sexual funk , disco and soul big hitters including “ lets start the dance” , “ stand on the word” and “love has come around.”  After seeing Greg Wilson dj you will be hot footing it down to the local charity shop and hunting out those motown and disco records and you’ll be asking your parents if that Boney M 12 inch is still in the loft.

Wilson who describes himself as ‘ not a dj as such , just someone who happens to dj’ once he starts up the Revox reel to reel machine you won’t stop dancing all night.

I’m sure the night will be a memorable party – the right venue, the right music, the right sound system and the right, like-minded people

I for one am counting down the days till he graces the GLA with his presence so roll out the red carpet Glasgae for the funk soul brother Greg Wilson

A top notch booking, I’ll see you down the front!
